Whatever good I've accomplished has come from being a part of a team of council members and the many people that are dedicated to accomplish the common goal of making our district the best that it can be.
  • Johnsonville (St. Luke / Possum Fork) Water Project
This new project will cover the St. Luke area, Possum Fork road and some of Poston Corner. This nearly half a million dollar project is one of the largest for Johnsonville in several years, and it will provide approximately 150 people with city water.

  • Pamplico Library
Thanks in part to generous donations from the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation, Pamplico will be enjoying a new library soon. This two million dollar project is already underway, and it is estimated to be completed in summer of 2007.

  • Johnsonville Extrication Equipment
  • Unfortunately the need for this equipment was realized after Kim Atkinson,a Johnsonville resident, lost her life in an accident. The purpose of this extrication equipment is to free a victim from a vehicle accident by cutting open the vehicle. This is more commonly referred to as the Jaws of Life. Johnsonville Fire Department received this equipment, and now has twenty six trained professionals that are looking forward to saving lives.

  • Johnsonville School District
  • "We are most appreciative of the efforts of Ken Ard to assist the School District 5 in various projects that we have undertaken. Without his assistance, many of these projects could not have been completed." (Dale Strickland, District 5 School Superintendent)

Johnsonville School District has received funding for football goal posts and padding used by the school and the County Recreation Department. They also received funds to replace the backstop.

  • Greenwood Athletic Park
  • In conjunction with other council members, Greenwood Athletic Park has received funding for a concession building, field lighting, and fencing. This park is used by children in all areas of Florence County.

  • Hyman Well
  • "Ken works hard for the district he represents. He has helped us on a number of projects we are currently undertaking." (Mayor Gene Gainey, Pamplico)

One such project is the Hyman Well. Ken secured the funding for the upgrades needed to ensure the residents of Pamplico a back up water supply.

  • Regional Training Center for Florence
  • South Lynches Fire District requested funding for a regional training center. This facility would train firefighters and first responders in Florence County. Funding in the amount of $150,000 was secured for Phase One construction.
